A DCORP guide to Zcash

Since the inception of Bitcoin, there have been many cryptocurrencies that have tried to provide a better alternative to Bitcoin. In doing so, many of them have focused on improving the privacy features of cryptocurrencies. Out of this large amount of coins that have tried, we only believe a few of them to be worthy of mention. Zcash is one of these few.

As you could have guessed, Zcash is a cryptocurrency that is mainly focused on privacy. Zcash aims to provide their users the ability to choose between sending public or private transactions. They do this through the use of the now-famous innovative technology called zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Arguments of Knowledge, or zk-SNARKs, which encrypts the transaction data on the public Zcash blockchain.

Other methods of providing privacy for cryptocurrencies for example rely upon obscuring the linkage between transactions, but the ability of Zcash to store transactions on the blockchain fully encrypted opens up new possibilities for cryptocurrency applications. Encrypted transactions allow parties to enjoy the benefits of public blockchains, while still protecting their privacy.
